About Us

Why we started Other Mothers.
In 1995 when we found out Laureen was pregnant with our first child, we found it difficult and time consuming going from store to store looking for items we needed, from Maternity clothing, baby furniture, toys and clothing.  I said jokingly that we should open a store that carries all these items in one store.  It was an idea we were giving much thought to.  Then January 12, 1996 Cierra came into our lives 11 weeks early at 2 lbs. 15 oz.  Sadly She passed away 11 weeks later due to complications with the RSV virus.  We were devastated and owning a "Children's"  store was the farthest thing from our mind.  Soon after though, with overwhelming support from family, friends and the community, and with the blessing of the adoption of our son Tyler in 1997 we decided it was time to give something back to the community that was so supportive to our family.   So in 1998, In Memory of Cierra, we opened Other Mothers.  A Children's and Maternity clothing exchange.  We thought offering quality "Like New"  children's items for less than new prices could help a lot of people.  In July of 2001 we learned Laureen was again pregnant and in August 2001 Randy was diagnosed with Testicular cancer, Miranda came into our lives a few months later in November, 11 weeks early, weighing 2 Lbs. 11 oz.  Today everyone is doing fine and we continue to find ways to give back to the family, friends and the community, that was, and still is, a great support system to us.
